Pill Longshore

Follow the public footpath along the Pill Foreshore west of the village. You will be walking across saltmarsh, an area flooded or partially flooded on the highest tides. Under the M5 bridge and after a short detour the path returns to the saltmarsh but takes you up on to the sea bank. At the end of the path there is a seat and notice board giving local information. Brean Down

From Brean Down, jutting out into the Bristol Channel, there are wonderful views in all directions. The Down, as well as the island of Steepholm, are parts of the rocky spine of the Mendip Hills as it disappears into the Bristol Channel. More »

Dolebury Warren

Dolebury Warren is a Mendip hilltop with extensive views across the North Somerset Levels to the Bristol Channel. It hosts a large Iron Age hillfort, the banks built from limestone hewn from the hillside – the stone rubble can be seen exposed in several places. More »

A splendid walk alongside the fast running River Boyd and through the site of a former ochre works. Here the remains of buildings, stained red by the processing of ochre, stand in regenerated woodland. More »
